History about my experience with Ubuntu.
In year 2014, I have installed Ubuntu Linux server 12.04 for storing office documents and make it accessible outside of the office building. The server hardware specifications:
- Intel Xeon 2.4Ghz
- 8GB RAM
- 1TB hard disk x 2
- 1 network card
- File sharing with Samba server - which allows the staffs to store their files in the server.
- SSH service - allows the system administrator to dial-in to the server without using VNC or TeamViewer.
- SFTP (Secure FTP service) - which allows the travelling staff to upload their files to the server securely.
In Nov 2020, I have signed up with DigitalOcean.com and created a Ubuntu Droplet. We are using Nginx, PHP, Sqlite and Node JS to host our business website.Since we are not expecting millions of hits a day, the USD5 (per month, 1GB RAM and 10GB SSD storage) server will be sufficient.
Click the following referral link to get $100 credit from Digital Ocean when you are signing up with them. This credit is valid for 60 days count from the day that you signed up.
